If you don’t have anything really specific in mind, you could opt for a package then spend more on upgrading to luxurious fittings and finishes that make your home a dream to live in.
Find a builder who will effectively guarantee timelines, build penalties or compensation into your contract. Look to their reviews and references as to whether projects seem to run on time. A timely build saves you money in terms of the interest you’re paying on loans, any rent on your current abode or months of lost income if you plan to rent the new home out.
