What Does the 2019-20 State Budget Mean for you?
The recent State Budget has announced some exciting news that will be beneficial to Thornhill Park residents regarding Hospitals and Health Care, Public Transport and Education.
Hospitals and Health Care
This year’s budget will invest a further $1.6 billion in Victoria’s hospitals which will include a new Melton Hospital. With Melton being a neighbouring suburb of Thornhill Park, the new hospital will provide increased access to high-quality health services for Thornhill Park residents and the broader community. Planning for the first stage of a new Melton Hospital Fund will see a $2.3 million investment, to determine the location, size and range of services this growing community requires.
Access to public transport
The Western Rail Plan initiative will plan to electrify the rail lines to Melton and Wyndham Vale by separating regional and metropolitan services on the Geelong and Ballarat lines. This initiative plans to reduce crowding, supporting population growth and economic development in Melbourne’s West as well as enable fast rail to the regions.
With Melton Station only a 7-minute drive from Thornhill Park, and the closest train station, this new initiative will plan to ensure residents have a more comfortable, faster commute.
Land will be acquired for new schools in the municipalities of Hume, Macedon Ranges, Melton and Wodonga. Rockbank North Primary School will be built to open in 2021.
